On September 28th 1987, one of Americas, scratch that, the worlds biggest teen stars was only just being born. Now with four successful albums under her belt, a dozen successful movies and her own clothing line, Hilary Duff has certainly made her stamp.
Hilary Ann Duff was born to Bob Duff and Susan Duff, on that very day in Houston Texas. From a young age, both her and her successful older sister Haylie Duff, both new that being famous and entertaining people was what they wanted to do.
By the age of six, She and her sister were travelling in the Cechetti Ballet. It was then that Hilary decided to fulfil her dream and started auditioning for acting roles. She won her first role in the American TV mini series True Women(1997)starring non other than now famous Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Her big breaks in TV thought, came from the TV movies, Casper Meets Wendy(1998) in which she played the young witch of the title Wendy, and as Ellie in The Soul collectors(1999),for which she won a Best Performance in a TV Movie or Pilot,(Supporting Young Actress), Young Artist Award.
In 2000, she was cast in the sitcom Daddio, but after shooting the first episode, the producers felt she wasn’t right for the part. “I was wanting to quit” says Hilary, “I had one audition left, and it was Lizzie McGuire.
Thank Goodness she went for the audition, because after getting the part of Lizzie McGuire, Hilary was thrown in to the limelight. The show quickly became a hit for Disney and Hilary, and was shown all across the globe.
Also for Disney, she starred in Cadet Kelly (2002) alongside Christy Carlson Romano.
To end Lizzie McGuire, in 2003 The Lizzie McGuire Movie, was released nationwide, and grossed $42,672,630. Also that year came Agent Cody Banks in which she starred alongside Frankie Muniz. But movie wasn’t all what 2003 was about.
Metamorphosis, Hilary's debut album was released, debuting at #2 on the american billboard 200, claiming the number 1 spot the following week. To date it has sold more than 2 million copies. The first single lift off the album, So Yesterday, also reached number 1.
The album itself featured the amazing song writing talents of Charlie Midnight (Joni Mitchell), Chicio Bennett (Madonna), Kara DioGuardi (Enrique Iglesias) and many more plus Big sis Haylie contributing to Sweet Sixteen and Inner Strength. It alsoed feature the producing masterminds behind such artists as Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavinge, The Matrixs.
Then came the times for more movies.Cheaper By The Dozen (2003),Raise Your Voice (2004),A Cinderella story (2004), and lended her voice alongside Haylie to A search for Santa (2004).
Alongside the release of Raise your voice came Hilary's next albume, the self titled Hilary Duff. The album featured the song writing talents of Kara DioGuardi and Charlie Midnight again along with Hilary and Haylie bothe making contributions with the songs Mr James Dean, Haters, and The Last Song. The album also features Hilary's favourite song to date, Fly.
In 2005, Hilary released too more movies, The Perfect man and Cheaper By The Dozen 2. It also brought the release of Hilary's biggest album to date Most Wanted. The offspring of this was the Most Wanted Tour, which sold out. Showing her Charitable side, Hilary donated the sales from the tour to the victims of the asian Tsunami. the album featured the new songs Wake-Up, Beat Of My Heart, and Break My Heart all wrote by Hilary herself and The Dead Executives (Joel (Hilary's BFriend) and Benji from Good Charlotte).
So whats up next for Hilary? More movies!. Theres the widely anticipated Material Girls with Haylie, about two popular rich socialites who lose all there money, animated movie FoodFight and Outward Blonde.
This August 2006 Material Girls was released nation wide in america, and entered the top ten at number. September will see the release of Hilary's brand new perfume with Elizabeth Arden With Love... Hilary Duff and the release of her brand new single Play with fire, from her as yet untitled fifth album.
This April 2007 saw the release of her fifth album, Dignity, which won rave reviews and hit the top of almost ever chart it entered. This summer will also see the release of her first adult film, War Inc, with John Cusack.Hilary is also currently filming her next film Greta, after completing the US/Canada leg of the Dignity World Tour.
